Virginia State Artisans Center
Artisans Center of Virginia
City of Waynesboro, Virginia
Adopted on July 1, 1999
Designated by the Virginia State Legislature as the official state artisans center. It was adopted as Virginia's State Artisans Center on July 1, 1999.
Incorporated in 1997, the Artisans Center of Virginia (ACV) was established to create and maintain a statewide center dedicated to the work of Virginia Artisans. Our mission is to raise awareness of craft and its contribution to the culture of Virginia through exhibition, education, and retail opportunities.
ACV is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) visual arts organization led by a professional staff and a volunteer board of trustees. ACV opened a 3,500 square foot retail and exhibition gallery June 2000, at the Waynesboro Village. Educational programming began February of 2001. ACV's operating income is derived from retail sales, corporate and private sponsorship, membership, government and foundation grants.
The work that you see in the gallery has been selected through a jury process and represents some of the finest traditional and contemporary craft being made today. Currently we represent over 150 professional artists from all over Virginia. We present 5 to 7 statewide or national exhibits per year, 8 to 10 featured artisan exhibits, and a year round schedule of classes and workshops for all ages and skill levels.
The gallery is designed to serve the interests of the people and artisans of Virginia.
