Historic Union Station is the site of 4 public museums, large and small meeting rooms, a restaurant, visitors center, model train shop, and satellite police station. It was adopted as Utah's State Railroad Museum in 1988. This web site is a work in progress. Please enjoy what we have for you and come back often for updates. The museum is dedicated to preserving the rich railroad heritage of Utah from the original joining of the transcontinental railroad in 1869. It celebrates the diversity of peoples that have been associated with construction, maintenance and provision of rail service in Utah.

Outdoor railroad exhibits include the Spencer S. and Hope Fox Eccles Railroad Center. This center was dedicated May 12, 1989. Several historic pieces of railroad equipment are on display here. Above is UP turbine #26. There is also UP Northern #833, a 4-8-4 steam locomotive that saw both freight and passenger service between Utah and Wyoming. Visitors to Union Station can be given tours of this facility.

Also on display outside the station is #4466, a former Union Pacific switch engine used in the Ogden Yards. Behind it is one of several historic cabooses.

Regular Hours are: Monday thru Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Closed Sundays .

Summer Hours Memorial Day to Labor Day: Moday thru Saturday, 10:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
