1-6-16.6.   State Hall of Fame. The South Dakota Hall of Fame in Chamberlain is the official Hall of Fame of South Dakota.

 

The people of the state are as diverse as the landscape. It is the people of South Dakota, past, present and future, who are remembered and recognized by the South Dakota Hall of Fame. The South Dakota Hall of Fame honors those who built the great state and those individuals who continue to contribute to future developments of the state. With pride, they honor their accomplishments so all people will know and understand that the state's rich and fascinating heritage is a product of people. The South Dakota Hall of Fame is the only resource in the state dedicated exclusively to the preservation and extension of the people of South Dakota's heritage. The South Dakota Legislature understood the importance of honoring its people and the South Dakota Hall of Fame when in 1996 they named the South Dakota Hall of Fame the official Hall of Fame for the state of South Dakota.

Established in 1974, the South Dakota Hall of Fame is centrally located in Chamberlain, where it serve as a showcase for the people of South Dakota. It was specifically founded to recognize and honor pioneers and outstanding leaders from all walks of life who have contributed to the development and heritage of South Dakota. Over 400 South Dakotans have been selected for recognition by the Hall of Fame
