History
Green county was formed in 1793. It is located in the Pennyrile region of the state. The elevation in the county
ranges from 490 to 1045 feet above sea level. In 2000 the county population was 11,518 in a land area of 288.66 square
miles, an average of 39.9 people per square mile. The county seat is Greensburg.
