Garrard county was formed in 1797. It is located in the Bluegrass region of the state. The elevation in the county
ranges from 514 to 1400 feet above sea level. In 2000 the county population was 14,792 in a land area of 231.21 square
miles, an average of 64.0 people per square mile. The county seat is Lancaster.
