How often may I use the Prepaid Benefits at no extra charge?

In most states, you may use the Prepaid Benefits as often as necessary, subject to state regulations. For example, you may call your Plan Attorney as often as you need for legal information and advice on covered matters. Also, there's no extra cost to you for the preparation or updating of a simple will in most states. Your Plan Attorney can also review legal documents up to six (6) pages each, make phone calls or write letters for you on your behalf if they find it necessary, and help you with warranty problems, small claims court proceedings, and government programs, all at no additional cost over your Plan membership fee. Some limitations apply. Refer to the Prepaid Benefits section for details and restrictions.

Will it be hard to contact my Plan Attorney?

It's as easy as picking up the phone. If the Plan Attorney you need to speak with is out of the office when you call, in most instances, your Plan Attorney should get back to you before the end of the next business day. Just let the attorney's office know the best time to reach you.

What do you mean by Additional Benefits?

If, after the initial phone call or meeting, your Plan Attorney determines the matter is too complex or may require additional time, including court time, to properly protect your interests, you will be charged according to a set of terms that you both agree on in advance, so there are never any surprises.

How can my Plan Attorney's hourly rate be so much lower than it is for most other attorneys?

It's simply a matter of volume. The Plan Attorneys are introduced to more clients than they normally would be in the course of their practices. Therefore, it's to their economic advantage, as well as yours, to substantially reduce their hourly fees, contingency fees, and fixed costs for the legal services they perform for Plan members.

Can my Plan Attorney handle business matters under the Plan?

The Legal Services Plan is for personal and family legal services, only. Although many of the Plan Attorneys can handle business matters for you, they are not covered under the Legal Services Plan, so it may not be at the reduced Plan rates. You will have to check with your Plan Attorney.

Can I meet my Plan Attorney in person?

You are entitled to meet with your Plan Attorney in person at least once for each new legal matter, regardless of the number, at no additional cost. It is best to call and schedule an appointment in advance.

What if I don't like my Plan Attorney?

You have the right to request a different Plan Attorney, if there is another one available in your area. Just call our toll-free number shown on your membership card and a Customer Service Representative will assist you in choosing another Plan Attorney.

I currently have a personal attorney. Can I continue to work with this attorney?

You are free to use any attorney you wish. However, only Plan Attorneys are obligated to provide the benefits offered under the Plan. You are solely responsible for any costs you incur for using an attorney who does not participate in the Plan. The Plan does not reimburse Plan members for any legal expenses.
