Iowa Universities and Colleges
Iowa has a lot of surprises in store for potential students. For example, it may not be surprising that Iowa leads the country in pork and corn production but those aren’t Iowa’s only agricultural commodities. Iowa is also home to over 300 commercial vineyards and 56 wineries.
For those new to the state Iowa is full of pleasant surprises and attending colleges and universities in Iowa is a great way to experience them all. With over 100 Iowa universities and colleges, as well as vocational and technical schools, to choose from there is something for everyone.
Agriculture on a Big Scale
Iowa is an agriculture-student’s paradise. 89% of the state is covered with farmland, which means that there aren’t many college or university campuses in Iowa far from an Agricultural setting. And those who love fresh fruits and vegetables won’t be disappointed either; Iowa has more farmers markets per capita than any other state.
However, Iowa isn’t without it’s cities. The biggest of which, Des Moines, offers all the comforts of a big city but isn’t without it’s own small town charms. Des Moines may not be huge, but it’s loaded with things to do, there are 18 museums and other areas of historic value, 8 art galleries, a symphony, opera, zoo and botanical garden.
With relaxed and friendly cities as well as excellent educational opportunities Iowa universities and colleges aren’t just a local favorite but draw students from around the country.
