Springfield, Texas, located in the north central part of the state is known for its abundance of limestone and natural springs for which it gets its name. Originally one of Texas' most thriving settlements, Springfield was bypassed by the railroad company in the 1870's and as a result lost much of its growth to neighboring cities that were on the railroad. Springfield now remains a small Texas town, but its close proximity to many of Texas' bigger cities provides residents and students with the opportunity to pursue advanced degrees and enroll in programs that will provide them with the skills needed to succeed.
