The population of Suffield is around 14,000 and lies in the Hartford metro area. New York City is 125 miles south west. The crime rate is extremely low, and the community is a wealthy area enjoying much higher than average incomes and rates of home ownership. Suffield has a seasonal weather system; heavy snowfall of over a foot in January and February, summers are cool. There are no central Suffield colleges, but there are seven Suffield area colleges offering vocational training through associate's degrees up to academic subject areas and career enhancing courses.

The historic district of Suffield runs along north and south Main Street. Interesting places for local history include King House Museum, and Hatheway House. The town is close to quite a few parks and recreational facilities including White's Pond.
