Stratford is located in Fairfield County and forms part of Bridgeport-Stamford metro area. It has a population of around 50,000. The crime rate is low and while incomes are not very high, most households are comfortably off. The climate is seasonal in this area, with cold winters and mild summers. February generally sees the heaviest snowfall of around eight inches. New York City lies about sixty miles south west. There are three central Stratford colleges, all offer private schooling. Programs focus on aircraft maintenance, broadcasting, technology, and business. Stamford area colleges offer academic programs up to doctorate level, and also faith based education.

There is a popular Farmer's market held Mondays, July through October. Boothe Memorial Park & Museum is worth a visit. There are lots of state parks and reserves within easy reach.
