Shelton is a community forming part of the Bridgeport-Stamford metro area, in Fairfield County. It is a wealthy area enjoying incomes around one and a half times national average. Crime rates are spectacularly low. Expect several inches of snow per month in winter, with cool to mild summers. There are seven Shelton area colleges, all public, most offering full time academic subjects. A couple of Shelton colleges offer career oriented training and associate degrees.

Shelton is located on the banks of the Housatonic River near Indian Wells State Park. This provides plenty of facilities for outdoor pursuits. There is also Trap Falls Reservoir located just south of the town. Ski resorts are plentiful, most are within an hour and a half's drive. Food lovers should make their way to the Farmer's market for fresh produce held July through October.
