Cromwell has a population of only around 13,500. It started out in life as part of Upper Middletown until local industry helped to feed the local population and it became a town in its own right. Residents enjoy a very low crime rate. The climate is seasonal with chilly, icy winters and mild summers. December through March enjoys heavy snowfall. Of the eight Cromwell area colleges, a couple are faith based. Other Cromwell colleges offer academic subjects, career skills training and vocational training all mainly on a full time basis.

Local attractions include many wildlife reserves such as Cromwell Meadows Wildlife Area, Millanes Pond, Wangunk Meadows Wildlife Area, and Meshomasic State Forest, not to mention two rivers. One of the great advantages of the local climate is the opportunities for skiing, within a sixty mile radius there are fourteen different resorts offering winter sports.
