El Monte, California CollegesEl Monte Colleges, Universities, and SchoolsMost cities in California would claim to be fairly car friendly, but students at El Monte, California area colleges boast a fairly unique title that is hard to dispute. Longo Toyota is allegedly the largest car dealership in the world. In a city with just under 120,000 people, that's quite a feat. Probably an even more noteworthy feat, however, is the rapid population growth that El Monte has enjoyed. It went from almost 30,000 people in 1960 to its current population. In just 40 years, it's more than quadrupled. The benefits of this rapid expansion are most evident in the schooling system. With greater tax revenue, local area colleges have been able to bolster their already strong academic programs.
El Monte, CA SchoolsEl Monte, CA schools weren't always the cream of the crop, however. During the 1930s, El Monte was a major settlement for the federal subsistence, Homestead project. Great Depression photographer, Dorothea Lange, helped document the lives of numerous migrant workers who relocated to this region of the country. The contrast between then and now is staggering. El Monte is now a bustling metropolis that typifies American economic opportunity. El Monte, California Colleges and Schools
