This number exceeds the national average of four-year college graduates. The Kansas Board of Regents lists 10 public universities, 25 public community and technical colleges, and more than 150 private and out-of-state institutions offering campus and online degree programs across the state. Students can select from two- or four-year undergraduate programs, graduate degrees, professional certifications and licensure, trade and vocational diplomas. In a July 2011 survey by the Ranking Web of World Universities, the University of Kansas was ranked No. 85 among the nation's Top 100 colleges and No. 124 worldwide among 20,000 higher education institutions. Students seeking career-focused trade education will find private schools dedicated to training in fields as diverse as nursing, real estate, massage therapy, NASCAR driving and automotive. Located in Lawrence, the largest state university has nearly 29,000 students, while one two-year technical college in Emporia has only 480 students. A wide selection of online colleges offer self-paced, flexible degree programs for students who choose to complete their training on the Internet.
