Duties vary enormously according to State Law and also the size of the clinic or hospital you work in. In general, you may provide diagnostic, therapeutic, or preventive healthcare services required by a Physician. Depending on the type of career you are trained for, you may be required to make house visits.
There are many specializations for which you can complete a college education—usually lasting about 2 years. You might like to undertake training to become a Sonographer, Radiographer, Respiratory Therapist, Cardiographer, or Physician Assistant. You will find it useful to get on with people at all levels as well as being able to work under pressure—especially in busy hospital departments. You may find it advantageous to have a qualification in a life science and math as well as reasonable levels of written and verbal English.
