The largest cities include Dover, Harrington, Wilmington, New Castle, Delaware City, Lewes, Middletown and Seaford. Students enjoy exploring Delaware's 26 miles of beaches, or spend their recreational hours sailing, ballooning, golfing, and touring historical sites, museums, galleries, and performing arts venues. The cost of housing matches the national average. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports a 2010 mean annual income of $46,870 for the 397,730 employed in the state, a figure exceeding the national mean by nearly $3,000. In terms of the total number of employees, major companies represent the health care, military support, financial services, pharmaceutical and food processing industries. The Delaware Office of Occupational and Labor Market Information projects that the strongest job growth from 2008-2018 will be in the fields of nursing, retail sales, elementary education and accounting.
