These students are often placed into ESL classes with other students who are having a difficult time with the English language, and given intensive training before being put back into the mainstream.

English as a second language (ESL) teachers are in high demand these days, and it is a job that many people who had to learn English themselves at some point are qualified to teach. If teaching in the public schools, ESL teachers are generally required to have a college education. Outside of the public school systems, there is a need for people who can demonstrate a working knowledge of both English and another language without having to provide proof of a degree.
