Fitness Training in Arizona
If you are thinking of going to college and training for a new career why not consider the benefits of becoming a Fitness Instructor or a Health and Physical Education Teacher? There are a variety of courses available for you to choose from.
As a Physical Education Teacher or Fitness Instructor you may plan, organize, and direct physical activities in recreation areas, parks, community centers, health clubs, fitness centers, cruise ships, schools or camps. Increasingly, you may also find employment in workplaces, where you might organize and direct fitness activities and athletic programs for employees of all ages.
Your main responsibilities may be to instruct individuals or groups in various exercise activities, or design training programs to enable people to reach their fitness goals. Clearly, you will need to be physically fit, as you may need to demonstrate exercise techniques or equipment. Aerobics Instructors specialize in training groups using muscle stretching, and toning exercises. Fitness instructors generally work on a one-to-one basis. Sports centers and gyms will probably provide the greatest opportunities for employment. Due to the broad range of facilities you may be expected to be able to provide a wide range of specialties such as yoga, aerobics, aqua-aerobics, swimming instruction, boxing, karate or weight training.
Some types of work require certification; e.g. Aerobics, weight training or life saving. You will find that many of these require recertification or a continuous course of education to remain certified. You will need to have an outgoing personality, be able to motivate, be sympathetic to the needs of individuals and have lots of energy. The nature of this role means that you should expect to work evenings and weekends regularly.
