A Career in Forest Management
Foresters work for both government and private industry and manage and protect the forests. Their duties include supervising the planting and growth of trees, conducting forest inventories and selecting sites for controlled burning.
Job Outlook and Earnings for Foresters
Although 1 in 3 foresters is employed by the Federal government, most employment growth over the next decade is expected to come from consulting in the private sector. The median annual earnings of foresters in 2004 were $48,230 and the middle 50 percent earned between $37,260 and $60,500.
Get the Training You Need: Programs in Forestry or Forest Management

College programs in forestry and forest resources management have four basic components: ecology and biology, measurement of forest resources, management of forest resources, and public policy.
